After receiving his BFA from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 2000, Patrick settled down in LA. Here he began to obsessively photograph the city and its components. This gradually moved into a new art form as he started to combine & create with the images he was shooting. Reflecting on the issues of the day, Patrick explores themes of Nature Vs. Industry and how they can coexist or clash. The images are all designed from photographs that Patrick has taken. The buildings and cityscapes are from Los Angeles while the animals are taken on trips outside the city in Southern California. He still incorporates farm life and animal photos from his hometown in Kinderhook as well. He hand-paints his pieces and incorporates vintage ephemera, especially music sheets that fit the tone of the artwork. At the early age of 4 he got in trouble for coloring in his brother's He-Man coloring book. He hasn’t stopped making art since. In his early teens Tripper and his family moved regularly, sometimes every week. During this time he started making a comic strip that was heavily inspired by “Calvin and Hobbes” and “the Simpsons”. For a sort of informal Senior project he and his Friend John Engle AKA the Prof 8o00% made a makeshift carnival they called “The Carnival of the eye”. It featured a plethora of dioramas, 2d art, a black and white strobe hut gallery, a tea bar, and a 7 foot tall mushroom with a light up interior.

Tripper is currently showing in galleries across the country and slinging art at heavily curated craft shows on the west coast. They are not only a juxtaposition of nature and industry, but a combination of imagery from his two homes - one rural and one urban."

Please note that due to everyone’s monitor displaying differently, the colors you see may vary.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0008/8955/2953/files/Patrick-Haemmerlein-Beautiful-Dreamer-original-artwork.jpg?v=1724371946
