"This new body of artwork explores the monsters women carry within and around
them—creatures born from fear, vigilance, rage, survival, instinct, and power. Predatory
animals merge with portraits of women to examine the duality of feminine experience: the constant awareness of danger imposed upon women, and the ferocity cultivated in response to it. Mandrills, venomous snakes, birds of prey, and other creatures become both threat and protector, reflecting the tension between vulnerability and resilience that many women navigate daily.
Rendered with sharp precision across charcoal, watercolor, collage, and textured paper, the works shift between delicacy and aggression. Some pieces incorporate piñata-inspired materials and layered colored paper, referencing fragility, celebration, spectacle, and rupture simultaneously. The surfaces themselves hold contradiction—beautiful yet torn, playful yet defensive, ornamental yet weaponized. Through these combinations of media, the work resists a singular narrative of womanhood and instead embraces complexity, contradiction, and transformation."
